Fuel oil is translated from Arabic as scraps, and fuel oil is actually obtained in the result of petroleum refining after separating of gasoline, gas-oil and kerosene components that have lower evaporation temperature. Fuel oil is the scraps of petroleum refining industry, but these scraps are necessary and important for fuel production. Physical and chemical characteristics of fuel oil primarily depend on distillation degree and petroleum composition.

Aviation kerosene ТS-1 (GOST 10227-86) is obtained from middle-distillate fraction of petroleum by means of petroleum straight refining, or in composition with hydrotreated or demercaptanized component. Hydrotreating or demercaptanization are used for bringing fuel into the standard requirements of total or sour sulfur composition.

Since 1988 petroleum industry began to produce and supply fleet with low-viscosity marine fuel that successfully coped with its task – replace diesel and turbine fuel. This type of fuel is produced by mixing distillates of secondary processes with diesel fractions. In contrast to marine diesel fuel, requirements for it are not so severe (for example, twice higher viscosity, sulfur content to 1,5% are admitted).

Diesel fuel: summer, winter, arctic
Qualitative diesel fuel is the basic type of fuel for engines not only in agriculture but also in industry. The main disadvantage of operation of automobiles with diesel engine is the necessity to change summer fuel into winter in the off-season time. Winter types of diesel fuel enable to operate the automobile at frosts up to -30 °С. Arctic diesel fuel that maintain its characteristics at a temperature up to –50°С is used in the regions of the Far North.

Modern automobile gasoline must meet a number of requirements that ensure efficient and reliable operation of engine and operating requirements: to have good evaporation that enables to get homogeneous air-and-fuel mixture with optimal composition at any temperatures; to have hydrocarbon-type content that ensures stable and non-knocking combustion process in all engine operation conditions; not to change its composition and characteristics during long-term storage and to have no negative influence on parts of fuel system, containers, mechanical rubber parts and so on. Ecological fuel properties are advanced to the forefront in recent years.
